Our Story: From Struggle to Flight

How one lunch on a remote island sparked an obsession with e-foiling — and why Clayton made it his mission to teach everyone he could.

It started with a horizon line and a leap of faith. My cousin Jordan foiled out to a remote island in the middle of the ocean — just to meet us for lunch. He didn't drive a boat. He didn't swim. He flew. And in that moment, watching him glide across the surface like it was nothing, something clicked inside me that I still can't fully explain.

          I didn't just see a new sport. I saw a new reality.

          Learning Surfing the Hard Way

I grew up learning to surf on my own. No instructor, no mentor, no one to tell me what I was doing wrong. Just me, the ocean, and a lot of wipeouts. It took me years longer than it probably should have — and looking back, I know that a little guidance early on would have changed everything.

But that's the ocean. It humbles you. It makes you earn it. And when you finally crack the code, even just a little, the feeling is unlike anything else in the world.

When I stepped onto a foil board for the first time, all those years of hard-earned ocean sense suddenly made sense in a new way. The balance, the feel of the water, reading the energy beneath you — it all transferred. And then the board lifted. And I flew.

That first moment of liftoff felt like leaving the heavy world behind and entering an oceanic dream world. I'm not being dramatic. Every single time I ride, it still feels that way.

An Obsession I Couldn't Keep to Myself

After that first flight, I rode every chance I got. I mastered the twists and turns, figured out the carving, pushed the speed. And the whole time, all I wanted to do was tell everyone about it. So I did. I started teaching anyone who would listen — friends, family, strangers at the beach who looked curious.

I realized I couldn't keep this feeling to myself. It wouldn't be right.

Every time someone caught their first flight — that wobble, that shock, that huge grin when they realized they were actually flying above the water — I felt it all over again like it was my first time. That never gets old. It still hasn't.

          The Teacher I Never Had

Super Stoked Surf Lessons exists because of a simple idea: nobody should have to learn the hard way if they don't have to. I spent years grinding through the learning curve on my own. I made every mistake. I know exactly where people get stuck, what they're afraid of, and what clicks the moment things start to make sense.

My goal is to be the instructor I never had — patient, passionate, and genuinely excited every single time someone decides to try something new.

We run 1-on-1 and group lessons right here at Indian Rocks Beach, Florida. Most people are up and foiling within the first 30 minutes. Not because it's easy — but because we've figured out how to get you there faster.

What Surf Lessons Are Really About

Life can be a grind. The desk, the screen, the routine. The ocean is still out there, doing its thing, completely indifferent to your to-do list. Getting on a foil board is a way of answering back. Of saying: not today.

          It's life-changing. Day-changing. Mood-changing. It's amazing. And you deserve to feel it.

So whether you've been watching from the sand for years, or you just stumbled across a video of someone flying over turquoise water and thought "I want to do that" — reach out. Come ride. I'll be right there beside you.

Your first flight is one session away.
